2007 COSAFA Cup

The eleventh edition of the COSAFA Cup, officially COSAFA Castle Cup in 2007, was held from September 29 to October 24, 2007 held in South Africa. Four teams from the Southern African region played for the title of South Africa champion. South Africa won his second title. The preliminary round was held from 28 April to 29 July in Botswana, Mozambique and Swaziland place.

Game Mode

For the final round of the tournament, the defending champions Zambia qualified automatically. The remaining 12 participants played in three groups, the winner is qualified for the finals in South Africa. The group ranks were decided by discharging a semi-final, the winners of a group and their final losing a game playing off for 3rd place.

Preliminary / Qualifying

Group A

The matches of Group A were held on 28 and 29 April 2007 in the capital of Mozambique, Maputo, instead. In this group played the eastern association members, including the island states of Madagascar and the Seychelles. Mozambique hosts failed to qualify for the finals.

The matches of Group B were held on 26 and 27 May 2007 Somhlolo in Swaziland instead. In this group played the southern Member States, South Africa and Lesotho, and Malawi, and the island state of Mauritius. Group winner was South Africa.

Group C

The Group C matches were held on 28 and 29 July, 2007 in Gaborone in Botswana instead. In Group C, the Western Association members Angola, Namibia and Botswana, as well as the small country of Lesotho played. Hosts Botswana was able to prevail in the group.
