2009 COSAFA Cup

The 13th edition of the COSAFA Senior Challenge 2009 (formerly Cosafa Cup) took place from 17 October to 1 November 2009 in Zimbabwe instead. For the first time the final round of competition was held centrally in a country. Eight teams from the South African space played for the title of " Master of the Southern Africa" ​​.

Venues were the Barbour Fields Stadium in Bulawayo and the Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

Angola and South Africa have participated with their B- teams in the tournament.

Game Mode

The 6 of the 14 participating countries, who held the highest positions in the FIFA world rankings in July 2009, were automatically qualified for the finals. The remaining eight participants played in qualifying in two groups of four teams against each other. The winners of the group stage qualify for the tournament. The final round was played in the all-in - system.

Tanzania was nachgerückt for Madagascar, but has canceled at short notice to attend.
