64th Berlin International Film Festival

The 64th International Film Festival (Berlinale ) were held until February 16, 2014 from 6. Opening film was Grand Hotel Budapest by Wes Anderson. The Golden Bear for the best film in the international competition went to the Chinese director Diao Yinan and his film Bai Ri Yan Huo.

International Competition

International Jury

The composition of the international jury was announced on 14 January 2014. Jury President was the American producer James Schamus. He was assisted by the American producer Barbara Broccoli, the Danish actress Trine Dyrholm, the Iranian filmmaker and artist Mitra Farahani, the American actress Greta Gerwig, the French filmmaker Michel Gondry, the Chinese actor Tony Leung and Austrian actor Christoph Waltz.

Movies

In the competition program 23 films were screened, of which 20 took part in the competition for the Golden and Silver Bears and 3 ran out of competition. Four of the competition films came from Germany: The beloved sisters by Dominik Graf, Jack Edward Berger, Stations of the Cross by Dietrich Brüggemann and between worlds by Feo Aladag. From Austria came Macondo, the feature film debut of Sudabeh Mortezai.

Other Events

The European Film Promotion presented five female and young male actor in Europe as Shooting Stars. One of the recipients was the German Maria Dragus.
