6th César Awards

The sixth award of the César Awards took place at the Palais des congrès de Paris on 31 January 1981. President of the ceremony was the singer and actor Yves Montand. Aired the ceremony, which was hosted by Pierre Tchernia, the public television channel Antenne 2, France 2 today

With a total of twelve nominations François Truffaut's The Last Metro was the big favorite of the evening. With ten wins, including in the major categories Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay, the film could hold its own against the competition. Gérard Depardieu and Catherine Deneuve won with their roles in Truffaut's film for the first time a César Award for Best Actor. Nathalie Baye, who was nominated for a vacation for a week also for Best Actress, was ultimately for Best Supporting Actress in Jean -Luc Godard's Every Man for Himself, who can award (life).
