The Rolling Stones present on the album A Bigger Bang a wide variety of rock and blues songs. With the new album Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are continuing their now historically to be named songwriting partnership.

In the fall of 2004, the two began work on the new songs. Later in the studio met with Charlie Watts and Ron Wood to do so. A Bigger Bang is the first studio album since the Bridges to Babylon eight years previously incurred. During the recording process in the last year the band was reportedly fascinated by theories of the origin of the universe. The album title A Bigger Bang reflects this fascination.

Central pieces on the album are probably the first single Streets Of Love, Back Of My Hand, a raw, earthy blues or rock Title Rough Justice. On the pieces This Place Is Empty and Infamy Keith Richards takes over the lead vocals.

In contrast to recent publications on the Stones A Bigger Bang are rarely supported by guest musicians. Even Darryl Jones is not always there as a bass guitarist; this part was carried out at times Mick Jagger ( who is also first heard as a slide guitarist ), Ron Wood and Keith Richards.

The album was produced by Don Was and The Glimmer Twins - a pseudonym for Jagger / Richards. Don Was was already responsible as a co- producer of the album Voodoo Lounge and Bridges To Babylon, and for the new songs on the greatest hits compilation Forty Licks. He has collaborated with the live album Stripped and in the double live CD Live Licks as co- producer.

A Bigger Bang reached in Germany and Austria respectively to the first place of the charts.
