Out of Our Heads is the third in the United Kingdom and the fourth released in the U.S. studio album by the Rolling Stones. In the U.S., it was released on 30 July and in the UK on 24 September 1965. It is the first release of the Rolling Stones, who - with the exception of the piece I'm Alright, that was recorded live in the UK - contains only songs that have been recorded in American studios.

As usual with the Stones during these years, two different versions were marketed with different album covers. The U.S. version appeared still in mono, which later published British version was the first album the Rolling Stones, which was released in stereo. The American edition contains the two hit singles the first half of 1965, and The Last Time (I Can not Get No) Satisfaction and the respective B-side, otherwise both versions contain a collection of songs that had arisen since November 1964.

Oh Baby ( We Got a Good Thing Goin ') and Heart of Stone Been in February 1965 on the compilation released in the U.S. The Rolling Stones, Now! included, the rest of the songs, which are absent in the American edition of Out of Our Heads, with the published only in the U.S. compilation December 's Children (And Everybody's ) were in November 1965 submitted - with the same cover as the British version of Out of Our Heads. The recordings for all the cover versions dated back to the photo session with the British photographer David Bailey to albums The Rolling Stones No. 2 and 12 x 5 from the year 1964.

The numerous publications in the U.S. - to 1967 compared to the UK three additional LPs - pointed out that London Records, which counted for distribution in the U.S. competent record company, with an early waning of enthusiasm for British bands.

From the success of the title song (I Can not Get No) Satisfaction benefitting, was Out of Our Heads reached the first album the Rolling Stones, the No. 1 on the U.S. LP charts (which again only succeed in 1971 with the release of the album Sticky Fingers should ). The album spent 35 weeks in the U.S. charts. A first place in the charts remained the Stones - due to the later release date - denied the first time in her home: On August 6, the Beatles had their album Help! published, and the Stones had to settle for 2nd place in England. During the year 1965, the Songschreiberduo Jagger / Richards developed more of its own profile; Songs like Heart Of Stone and I'm Free showed the band's potential. The self-confidence newfound may also have been the reason that Out of Our Heads was the last release of the band, the songs with the songwriter pseudonym Nanker / contained Phelge. The album was also the last LP of the band, which mainly contained rhythm-and - blues cover versions. Participated in the recordings have Ian Stewart ( piano ), Jack Nitzsche (organ, piano, percussion ) and Phil Spector, who plays electric bass on Play with Fire.

The American Rolling Stone magazine leads the U.S. version of Out of Our Heads at number 114 in its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
