The album

The album was released the same Beatles movie. The title Help! had a more serious meaning than the film was able to show. John Lennon wrote Help! in a time when he himself did not know where he was the head. Drug use has increased, the success spiraled to new heights and friend and foe were almost indistinguishable. Especially Lennon observed a significant weight gain, coupled with mild depression, he called it his "Fat Elvis " phase. Thus, the song can actually be understood as a cry for help.

A foreign musicians invited for the production, which plays a flute solo in the song - When recording to You've Got to Hide Your Love Away for the first time - apart from Andy White during the recording of Love Me Do.

Album Cover

On the album cover, the group is seen as representing a word in semaphore alphabet. The photographer of the album cover, Robert Freeman, wrote that he had had the idea to represent the letter "H E L P " as symbols, but this was rejected because it did not look good enough. The arm positions are thus improvised, to obtain a more pleasing composition. In the German and British album art arises from the arm position the letters " N J U V".
