The Rijksweg A22 is a motorway in the Netherlands. It starts at the motorway junction knooppunt Velsen in the east of the village Velserbroek where it branches off from the A9, and ends after 8 km at knooppunt Beverwijk. There he re-enters the A9. By 1996, the A9 was about today's A22, then the Wijkertunnel was opened, making the A9 through this tunnel and the old section has been renamed to A22. Before this section was awarded this designation, the section was east of Utrecht, which is part of the A27 today, the name of the road A22.
