The Rijksweg 6 is a highway that runs in north-south direction in the northern part of the Netherlands. It starts at Knooppunt Muiderberg in the east of Amsterdam and ends on Knooppunt Joure near Heerenveen, where it flows into the A7. Takes you past the communities Almere, Lelystad, Emmeloord and Joure.

The A6 is an important connection between Amsterdam and the north of the Netherlands. This compound has been further improved by the Associated am Knooppunt Almere A27.

On the route of the A6 are two movable bridges that make it especially during the summer tourist traffic often comes to congestion on the A6. This affects the Ketelbrug in Flevoland, which goes beyond the Ketelmeer and the Frisian Scharsterrijnbrug.

Previously, the section between the Knooppunt Emmeloord and the Knooppunt Joure part of A50/N50. But when the A6 was planned, the section has been renamed. Originally it was planned that the A6 from Emmeloord from over Wolvega, Oosterwolde Roden should run up to Groningen. This part of the planning was later discarded.
