The Provinciale away 34 (short: N34 ) is a Dutch country road in the provinces of Drenthe and Overijssel, Zuidlaren ( A28 ) runs up to Ommen. The road is a former Rijksweg and is largely developed as a dual carriageway with 1x2 lanes, between the A37 and Emmen -south but with 2x2 lanes.

By 2007, the N34 was a Rijksweg even before it then passed into the jurisdiction of the provinces and since Provinciale ie away. In Rijksweg plan the route is currently not listed as an alternate link Rijksweg 834. The provinces were given for this operation € 82.5 million ( Drenthe) and € 17.7 million ( Overijssel).

The N340 is a former part of the N34 continues to form the compound of Ommen to Zwolle. From 1 January 1993 this section was renamed and managed by the province of Overijssel. At Witte Paal ( between Ommen and Hardenberg ) crosses the N36. When Knooppunt Holsloot the A37 crosses the running of the N34 and N33 in the Gieten at a roundabout.

The N34 was the N- road in the netherlands with the most fatal accidents, which is why the road is also called as Dodenweg (German Death Road ). 2007 and 2008 has so many ground-level intersections converted into interchanges the province of Drenthe.
