Alex Harvey (skier)

Alex Harvey ( born September 7, 1988 in St. Ferreol, Quebec ) is a Canadian cross-country skier.

Career

The French-Canadian is the son of Pierre Harvey, a multiple Canadian Olympians both in cycling and cross-country skiing. Alex Harvey began his long- running career at the club Nordique Mont Sainte -Anne. He was considered one of the strongest junior cross-country skiers of Canada and won at Junior World Championships three medals ( two bronze and one silver 2007 2008). In 2006 he was Canadian champion over 10 km.

In the Nor- Am Cup Harvey won seven races so far and had nine more times on the podium. He made his World Cup debut in February 2008 in Otepaeae, where he remained, however, still no points. At the dress rehearsal for the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver at the Whistler Olympic Park in January 2009, he won first World Cup points. In the double- tracking of Canadians was - fostered by the absence of most world-class cross-country skiers - twelfth. The next day in the team sprint Alex Harvey was achieved together with George Grey a podium with third place. His most successful year so far was 2011, when he was able to win a gold medal in both the Nordic World Ski Championships for Juniors and seniors.
