Althüttendorf is a municipality in the Joachimsthal on the northern edge of the district of Barnim, Brandenburg.

Geography

The place is located in the terminal moraine of the Pomeranian ice stage of the Weichselian on the eastern shore of the Grimnitzsees.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the east on the community Ziethenstraße, in the south on the community Chorin, and to the west by the town itself of the district of Barnim, and in the north on the town Angermuende of the district Uckermark.

In the list of monuments in Althüttendorf and in the list of ground monuments in Althüttendorf are registered in the list of monuments of the country Brandenburg cultural monuments.

Other attractions in the community is one of the medieval village church, which was built of stone and wood. It was restored in the years 1850-1860 and 2001.

History

Old huts

The village Althüttendorf arose from a glassworks, which was moved here from the castle Grimnitz. The Grimnitzer glassworks in Althüttendorf was founded in 1653 by Elector's chief hunter who settled Bohemian glassmakers and Hessian here. With the commissioning of the station in 1898, developed the next stone brawl. For this purpose, up to eight meters thick block packs were dismantled in the Ihlowbergen. In the late 1960s the mining was stopped.

In the district of a holiday camp was in GDR times established and maintained.

Neugrimnitz

In today's local situation of Neugrimnitz during Brandenburg- Swedish War (1675-1679) was a glassworks. Later, a brewery and a bakery and extensive stables were added. 1682 here the third Grimnitzer glassworks by Gabriel Supe was built.

Up to the year 1749 were under the outworks Neugrimnitz, Grumsin and Mellin managing the Liebenwalder Office. Until 1839, it was then constituted the kingly office Grimnitz. In 1745, a new glass factory was inaugurated. It existed until the late 18th century and established green glasses. In addition to the glass manufacturing, agriculture become the second pillar of Neugrimnitz developed. So the country have been ordered of 13 day laborers families in 1850 883 morning. At times, even up to 2000 sheep were kept here.

Other important revenue came from the operation of the local brewery and distillery.

The municipality was incorporated into Neugrimnitz Althüttendorf on 1 January 2003.

Traffic

The Federal Highway 11 crosses from the southwest to the north, the municipality has and at the southeast edge of the hamlet Althüttendorf the motorway junction Joachimsthal.
