André Benoit

André Benoit ( born January 6, 1984 in St. Albert, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since July 2013 when the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League contract.

Career

André Benoit began his career as a hockey player with the Kitchener Rangers, for by 2005 he was active from 2000 in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League. With the team he won the 2003 J. Ross Robertson Cup, first the, the champion of the OHL and then the Memorial Cup, the final tournament of the Canadian Hockey League. In the 2003 /04 season he was awarded the William Hanley Trophy as the OHL and fairest player in the season 2004/ 05, the Leo Lalonde Memorial Trophy as the best player over 20 years. From 2005 to 2007, the counsel for the Hamilton Bulldogs played in the American Hockey League and won with the team in the 2006/07 season with the team to the Calder Cup. He then spent one season each at Tappara Tampere in the Finnish SM- liiga and Södertälje SK in the Swedish Elitserien. In the 2009/10 season, he ran again for the Hamilton Bulldogs in the AHL.

On August 6, 2010 Benoit won a contract as a free agent with the Ottawa Senators, for in eight games he prepared a goal in the National Hockey League. The majority of the 2010/11 season he spent but at Ottawa's farm team Binghamton Senators in the AHL and won with the team the Calder Cup. He himself wore as best assist provider of the playoffs significant win the title at and was also elected to the second all-star team in the league. For the 2011/12 season, the Canadian was obliged by HK Spartak Moscow of the Kontinental Hockey League. A year later he returned to the Ottawa Senators, where he received a one-year contract.

In July 2013 Benoit signed a one-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche.

Internationally

For Canada, Benoit took part in the U18 World Youth Championship in 2002. In eight games while he scored a goal and three assists.
