Armenia at the 1996 Summer Olympics

Armenia participated in the 1996 Summer Olympics for the first time in the Olympic Summer Games in part, after the country had given its Olympic debut at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer. The team consisted of 32 athletes, of which 30 men and two were women. They started in 36 competitions in eleven sports, and won a gold and a silver medal. The youngest participant was the water jumper Arusyak Gyulbudaghyan with 17 years and 197 days, the oldest was the shooter Hrachya Petikyan aged 36 years and 187 days. The Armenian flag was worn during the opening ceremony on 19 July 1996 by the weightlifter Aghvan Grigoryan in the Olympic Stadium.
