Asbjørn Ruud

Asbjørn Ruud ( * October 6, 1919 in Kongsberg, † March 26, 1989 in Oslo) was a Norwegian ski jumper.

He was the son of Sigurd Theodor Ruud and Mathilde Throndsen and such others of his brothers ski jumper, which Birger and Sigmund were the best known. Ruud was married to the swimmer Berit Haugen. He became world champion in jumping from the large hill at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1938 in Lahti. 1946 and 1948 he was Norwegian champion. At the 1948 Olympic Games in St. Moritz, he finished in seventh place on the large hill. In the same year he was awarded the Holmenkollen medal, the highest award in the Norwegian skiing.
