Sigmund Ruud

Sigmund Ruud ( born December 30, 1907 in Kongsberg, † April 7, 1994 in Oslo) was a Norwegian ski jumper and alpine ski racer.

At the 1928 Olympics in St. Moritz, he won the ski jumping behind his compatriot Alf Andersen the silver medal. A year later he was able to win the title at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Zakopane. Its defense, he missed again a year later, when he was third in Oslo. In his last World Cup participation in 1931 he placed sixth in Oberhof. In 1936 he took part in the 1936 Winter Olympics as alpine skier in the Alpine combined, however, he resigned from. In 1949 he was honored as before his younger brothers Birger and Asbjørn Ruud with the Holmenkollen medal.

In Kongsberg Sigmund Ruud is named vei (German Sigmund Ruud - way ) for him.
