Nordic skiing at the 1928 Winter Olympics

In the II Olympic Winter Games in 1928 in St. Moritz four competitions were held in Nordic skiing. Venue was the Olympic Ski Stadium with the Olympic hill. In addition to Olympic medals and World Championship medals were awarded at the Nordic disciplines. The only exception was the Nordic combined, where only Olympic medals were awarded.

Cross-country skiing

18 km

Date: February 17, 1928

The cross-country skiing over 18 km was also a score for the Nordic combined. 44 of 49 athletes crossed the finish line.

50 km

Date: February 14, 1928

Through the memorable temperature rise of three degrees by 8 clock to 25 degrees in the noon hours, the skiers were faced with heavy wax problems that had to give up almost a third of the participants. 30 of 41 athletes crossed the finish line.

Nordic Combined

Date: February 14, 1928

The combination consisted of a 18 -km cross-country skiing and ski jumping with two experiments. The fastest runner was awarded 20 points, then there was a minute residue 0.25 points deduction. From the two partial results, the mean was calculated subsequently. From 35 athletes were able to classify 28.

Special jumping

Date: February 11, 1928

The longest jump was 20 points, all other corresponding point deductions. In addition, three judges awarded marks for style. From these two results, the mean was calculated. From 40 athletes were able to classify 38. There were a total of 11 falls.
