The Ashanti Region ( in Akan: Asante Mantaw ) is a region of Ghana with its capital Kumasi.

Geography

The region is located in the center of the country, bordered to the north and northwest of the Brong- Ahafo Region, to the south by the Central Region, on the southwest by the Western Region and on the east by the Eastern Region.

Population

The vast majority of the population consists of members of the Akan people of the Ashanti. The Ashanti make up about 19 ​​% of the population.
