Athis-de-l'Orne

Athis -de l'Orne is a commune with 2589 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Orne in Basse-Normandie region.

Geography

Neighboring communities of Athis -de l'Orne are Sainte-Honorine -la- Chardonne in the north, Taillebois in the east, Ronfeugerai the southwest, Flers in the south, Aubusson in the southwest, Montilly -sur- Noireau in the West and Saint -Pierre- du- Regard to the northwest.

Etymology

The name comes from Aties or Atties what the Latin Attegioe ( German: hut) is derived. The first manifestations of the place were huts of shepherds and woodcutters winemakers. In 1968, the community name of the additive de l'Orne.

Geography

In the feudal era to Athis was divided into six fiefs: Saint -Vigor, Le Buat, Les bots, Espinouze, Planquivon and La Fressengère. The village belonged to Saint -Vigor.
