Aura in Sinngrund ( officially: Aura i.Sinngrund ) is a municipality in the north of the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart and a member of the administrative community castle sense.

Geography
Geographical Location
The village is located about 20 kilometers northwest of Gemünden am Main in the valley of the aura in the Bavarian Spessart Nature Park. The northern boundary of the municipality forms the border between Bavaria and Hesse.

Name
Etymology
The name Aura is derived from the eponymous river Aura, which accrues to the sense in Burg sense.

History
The place was first mentioned in documents in 1059 in a wild spell ceremony for the monastery of Fulda. Aura has been with the Office of the Bishopric of Würzburg, in which it was, in 1803 largely the Principality of Aschaffenburg slammed the Prince Primate Karl Theodor von Dalberg, and there is a department of the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt. 1814 was a Kondominat between the Kingdom of Bavaria and the Electorate of Hesse. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community. 1863 was due to the aura in October 1860 concluded between the Kingdom of Bavaria and Hesse-Cassel treaty total of Bavaria, the Kondominat was dissolved.

Mayor since May 2008 Wolfgang Blum ( SPD / FUBA ). It replaced the former mayor Walter Sachs ( CSU).
Culture and sights
The townscape is dominated by the Catholic Kuratienkirche of the Seven Sorrows of Mary. The former castle now houses the primary school of the aura.
