Bahrain at the 2008 Summer Olympics

Bahrain was represented by participation in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing in total for the 7th time in the Olympic Games. The first appearance was in 1984. Athletes competed in 12 different sports. With the number of 12 athletes taking part 2008 is the largest in Olympic history of Bahrain. Ruqaya al - Ghasara was the flag bearer at the Olympic opening ceremony.

Rashid Ramzi won the 1,500 -meter run and overtook the first Olympic medal for Bahrain. On 29 April 2009, however, confirmed the National Olympic Committee of Bahrain that Ramzi has tested positive for post- doping samples that have been taken during the Olympic Games of Beijing 2008 on the EPO- CERA means. Also in the B sample CERA was found. On 18 November 2009, Ramzi was officially stripped of his gold medal.
