The Gambia at the 2008 Summer Olympics

Gambia participated in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing under the IOC country code GAM part. It was the seventh part of the African nation, which took first at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

The Gambia National Olympic Committee ( GNOC ) reported three athletes, two more were still on the shortlist and they hoped to be able to also travel through a wild card for the IOC to Beijing. The end of July they were in a training camp in Kenya. The hope was fulfilled for Ansu Sowe, planned for the 1,500 -meter run, and Bakary Jabbi, planned for the 800 -meter run, not.
