Békés County (former)

The Békés ( German rarely Bekesch; Hungarian Vármegye Békés, Latin comitatus Bekesiensis ) was a historic administrative unit ( county / county) in the Kingdom of Hungary.

The area lies in present-day southeastern Hungary, but that exists today Békés county covers less area and areas.

Location

At the county limited the counties Csongrád, Jasz -Nagykun -Szolnok, Hajdú Bihar, Arad and Csanád. Through the county the river flowed Körös.

History

The county was created in the 11th century. 1950 extended the county follows in the wake of Komitatsreform:

  • The northeastern part of the county Csanád - Arad - Torontál ( created after 1918)
  • A part of the former county of Bihar ( area around the places Sarkad and Okány )
  • A part of the Jász -Nagykun -Szolnok ( the area around the place Dévaványa )
