Geography

Geographical Location

The territory of Biebergemünd extends through the Bieber and the Kinzig valley. The Bieber, the springing snakes in the district of Bieber in a northerly direction through the Biebertal, opens in Biebergemünd host 's home in the Kinzig.

Neighboring communities

Biebergemünd bordered to the north by the town of Waechtersbach, on the east by the town of Bad Orb and the community Jossgrund, in the southeast on the community Flörsbachtal, to the south by the unincorporated areas Geiselbacher Forestry and Huckelheimer forest and the community Kleinkahl (all district of Aschaffenburg ). In the West Biebergemünd borders the municipality of pottage, and the city of Gelnhausen.

History

On September 1, 1970, the formerly independent communities Kassel and Wirtheim were merged to form the new municipality Biebergemünd.

On 1 October 1971, the municipalities Breitenborn AB, Lanz rings and Rossbach were integrated into the community Bieber.

On 1 July 1974, the municipalities Biebergemünd and Bieber were merged to the same name Biebergemünd. This was done against the express decision of both local councils.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms of Biebergemünd symbolizes the different parts of the community. The upper half is based on the wheel icon from the Mainz Coat of Arms, Wirtheim and Kassel were among the last. The lower half symbolizes the mining industry in Bieber. The arrangement of the elements of the coat of arms is visually similar design as that of the old Bieberer coat of arms. The colors red and gold are reminiscent of the county of Hanau.

Culture and sights

Biebergrund Museum in Bieber

In addition to the local history aspects of the museum there is a large focus on the subject of mining in the Beaver. The museum is located in the district of Bieber just off the main road B 276 and is e from Historical Society Biebergemünd V. performed.

The only public swimming pool of the community is the source pool in the district of Bieber.

Bieber maintains in Weberfeld leisure park with wading pool ( Kneippanlage ) and barbecue hut. Rossbach, the so-called Rose garden with a Kneipp facilities. At the community center in Kassel, there are tennis courts.

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

Biebergemünd is just off the A66 between Frankfurt and Fulda. In a north-south direction, the B 276 runs through the municipality, which runs from Birstein to Lohr am Main.

On the northern edge of the municipal area parallel to the motorway is the Kinzig Valley Railway Fulda and Frankfurt. On Wirtheim station every hour keeps the regional train Waechtersbach -Frankfurt. The Spessart Railway, a narrow gauge railway which ran from Gelnhausen to hole Born, above Bieber and the entire present-day municipality opened up, was already shut down in 1951.

In Biebergemünd he had worked as a social and Christian committed village schoolteacher first in the district of Rossbach, later in the district of Kassel. Pants field was known by the description in the Wladyslaw Szpilman 's autobiography, which by the Polish director Roman Polanski, under the title "The Pianist" ( three Oscars 2003) was filmed.
