Borås Municipality
Borås is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish province of Västra Götaland County and the historic province of Västergötland. The main town of the municipality is Borås.
History
The municipality of Borås was formed in 1971 by merging the city of Borås and the rural community Brämhult. 1974 came more communities added from the environment, in 1995 the municipality Bollebygd was spun again.
Prior to the merger of Älvsborgs County, Skaraborgs Göteborgs och Bohus Lan and Lan to Västra Götaland County Borås belonged to the province Älvsborg.
