Born to Run is a rock album by the American singer and songwriter Bruce Springsteen, released in 1975.
Importance
Bruce Springsteen's third album, Born to Run, was his breakthrough in the U.S. and worldwide. Ernest "Boom " Carter and David Sancious left the band after they recorded the theme song Born To Run. After an audition of about 30 drummers and 30 pianists Roy Bittan and Max Weinberg were added to the band. Likewise, Steven Van Zandt was an official member of the E Street Band during the work on the album. Although Springsteen's first two albums, Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ and The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle had gotten good reviews, the commercial success had not materialized. Thus, Bruce Springsteen was under enormous pressure as he took Born To Run as a possible failure of the end of his recording career could have been.
Born To Run is also known for his Wall of Sound. This means that the songs have an enormous density (piano, glockenspiel, saxophone, guitar, horns, drums, bass, Fender Rhodes, tambourine, strings, synthesizers ). More than six million albums were sold up to 2006, so that the album Springsteen is the second most sold album by Born in the USA.

- All songs were at the piano in the first house where Springsteen has lived alone, composed.
- The riff of the song Born to Run came from Steve Van Zandt. He also had the idea for the wind in Tenth Avenue Freeze -Out.
- VH1 chose Born to Run at number 27 of the best albums of all time, the Rolling Stone chose it to number 18 of the 500 best albums of all time.
- In 2003, the album Born to Run was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
- In the first pressings of the plate was misspelled on the back cover of the name of the co-producer Jon Landau (John). Landau said: "If something had to go wrong with the project, which was to bear. "
Album cover
The cover of Born To Run is one of the most famous ever. It was designed by Eric Meola, who shot a total of 900 pictures in a three-hour session. These images were later under the title "Born To Run: The Unseen Photos" published. It shows Bruce Springsteen with an electric guitar ( a cross between a Fender Telecaster and Fender Esquire ), leaning against Clarence Clemons. Springsteen's pose was supposedly spontaneous.
The fact that Springsteen and Clemons were seen together on the cover should imply that it was on this board about friendship. The cover was often satirized. There are, for example, a cover of Cheap Trick, which picks up this motif; just a picture from Sesame Street, in which Bert leans in a similar pose to the Cookie Monster.

30th Anniversary Edition
On 24 November 2005, Columbia Records released the 30th Anniversary Edition in a Box Set. Included are:
- A revised CD of the original album. the shell is a replica of the former LP Edition. So the CD is black and in the style of a record.
- The DVD " Wings For Wheels", a making-of for the album, which in 2007 was awarded a Grammy. There is also a bonus film of three songs that was recorded in Los Angeles on May 1, 1973 at the Ahmanson Theatre.
- The DVD " Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band Hammersmith Odeon, London '75 ", a complete, two-hour concert film, which was recorded in London on 18 November at the Hammersmith Odeon. This concert also appeared on CD. It was also the first concert of Bruce Springsteen in England at all.
The box set came on 3 December 2005 at No. 18 among the Billboard 200 It was six weeks in the charts.
