Boxing at the 1980 Summer Olympics

The XXII. 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow championship boxing matches were held in eleven weight classes. The event took place from 20 July to 2 August 1980, the sports complex Olimpijski.

Competitions and schedule

Flyweight ( up to 48 kg)

Participants: 22 Boxer Finals on August 2 In the final Sabirov defeated the Cubans Ramos by points 3-2.

Flyweight (up to 51 kg )

Participants: 22 Boxer Finals on August 2 In the final Lessow defeated Miroshnichenko from the Soviet Union by RSC in the 2nd round.

Bantamweight ( up to 54 kg)

Participants: 34 Boxer Finals on August 2 In the final, Hernandez defeated the Venezuelan Piñango unanimously on points 5-0.

Featherweight (up to 57 kg )

Participants: 35 Boxer Finals on August 2 In the final Fink defeated the Cubans Horta on points 4-1.

Lightweight ( up to 60 kg )

Participants: 29 Boxer Finals on August 2 In the final Herrera defeated Demjanenko from the Soviet Union by RSC in the 3rd round.

Welterweight (up to 63.5 kg )

Participants: 30 Boxer Finals on August 2 In the final Oliva won against Angelov from the Soviet Union on points 4-1.

Welterweight ( up to 67 kg)

Participants: 29 Boxer Finals on August 2 In the final Aldama won against Mugabi of Uganda on points 4-1.

Light Middleweight ( to 71 kg)

Participants: 19 Boxer Finals on August 2 In the final, Gómez defeated Savchenko from the Soviet Union on points 4-1.

Participants: 16 Boxer Finals on August 2 In the final Kačar won against Poland Skrzecz on points 4-1.

Heavyweight ( over 81 kg)
