Bözberg

Linn

Bözberg since January 1, 2013, a municipality in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland. It was formed by the merger of the municipalities Gallenkirch, Linn, Oberbözberg and Unterbözberg.

Geography

The municipality extends over a gently undulating plateau in the Jura mountains around the Bözbergpass, which merges into the folds of the Jura in the southwest. The plateau falls in the south to the Aare Valley, west to the source of the valleys Sissle. South of the pass road are the villages Gallenkirch ( 565 m above sea level. M. ) and Linn (570 m above sea level. M. ), on the road, even the hamlet Neustalden ( 569 m above sea level. M. ) and Vier Linden (514 m above sea level. M. ). History

The name Bözberg goes back to the time of the Romans: The Mons mentioned by Tacitus in his Histories Vocetius likely to have been a high probability of Bözberg. In the 13th century, the Habsburgs created from their high court and manorial rights in the region, the Office Bözberg. In 1377 it passed to Rudolf von Schönau and so became part of the dominion Schenkenberg. After the conquest by the Bernese Bözberg was the judicial district and sub- bailiwick.

Bözberg was the name of an earlier church that existed until its division into communities Oberbözberg and Unterbözberg in 1872. It comprised the area of beidseistig Bözbergpasses and consisted of the villages Altstalden, Birch, Egenwil, Neustalden, Oberbözberg, port, Kirchbözberg, origin, over valley and Vierlinden. In contrast, among Gallenkirch Linn and not to this community.

In 2008, the voters of bile Kirch, Linn, Oberbözberg and Unterbözberg approved the proposal to consider the merger of the four municipalities. Population

On December 31, 2013 1543 people lived on the territory of the municipality Bözberg, of which 10 % are foreigners. At the 2000 census, 54.7 % were reformed and 27.9 % Roman Catholic. 95.1 % identified German as their main language.

Politics and Law

The A3 motorway passes under the municipal area in 3700 m long Bözberg tunnel, the nearest port is located at Effingen. Bözberg is served by two postal routes to the network of public transport which have their starting point at Brugg railway station: Line 137 passes directly over the mountain pass to Frick, line 372 via Oberbözberg and Gallenkirch to Linn.

Education

The primary school and the kindergarten of Bözbergs have been focused on a site as part of the municipality of fusion. They are housed in the school building of the former municipality Unterbözberg, in the district of origin. Gallenkirch owned since 1917 no longer own schoolhouse, the children living there, visited the classes in Linn.
