Bridgewater is a city ( town) in the U.S. state of Maine in Aroostook County.
Geography and transport
The city is located in eastern Aroostook County to the Canadian border. Through the city leads the U.S. Highway 1, which continues north towards Fort Fairfield and Presque Isle and south towards Houlton. There was a passenger station on Station Street. The leading past here railway Brownsville -Saint -Leonard, however, is shut down and is now a hiking and biking trail, the Bangor - Aroostook Trail. The nearest airport with scheduled flights is located in Presque Isle.
History
Bridgewater was named after the town in Massachusetts. The settlement was announced on March 2, 1858 to the city.
