Linneus is a town in Aroostook County, Maine, in the United States. In the United States Census 2010 Linneus had 984 inhabitants.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, Linneus has an area of 118.7 km ², of which 115.4 km ² of land and 3.3 km ² ( = 2.79% ) consist of waters.

U.S. Highway 2 leads as Banger Road in north-south direction through the city. In the center of Linneus is the size still waters of the city, 163 m above sea Beaver Brook Lake. This is drained out through the Beaver Brook to the south, the right of the western part of the district draining Little Beaver Brook receives shortly before reaching the southern district border.

Demography

At the time of the census of 2000, there were 892 people Linneus. The population density was 7.7 people per km ². There were 473 housing units at an average 4.1 per km ². The population consisted of Linneuss 95.40 % White, 0.11 % African American, 2.58% Native American, 0.11 % Asian, 0 % Pacific Islander, 0.45 % reported from other races, and 1.35 % from two or more races. 0.67 % of the population to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Residents Linneuss distributed to 319 households out of which 41.1% were living in children under 18 years. 65.5 % married couples living together, 7.2 % had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.8 % were non-families. 16.9% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 8.2 % of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size is 3.12.

The population was spread out with 27.7 % under the, 9.5 % 18 -24- year-old, 27.4 % 25 -44- year-old, 25.7 % 45-64 year olds and 9.8 % under the age of 65 years or more. The average age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 95.6 males. In the over -18s accounted for 100 women, 97.2 men.
