The Bruce Highway is part of the Australian highway system. It is located in the state of Queensland on the east coast of the country and runs from the capital of Brisbane in the south to Cairns in the tropical north. In Eumundi he is removed as a motorway and is designated by the number M1. From there it is a two-lane highway. He is part of National Highway 1 which, usually following the coastline, surrounded the whole Australian continent substantially.

The Bruce Highway was opened in the 1930s and was then a coastal road that has all the important places along the coast of Queensland connected. Today, he is the main traffic artery within Queensland. The total length of the Bruce Highway is about 1700 kilometers. The length however is constantly changing due to construction work in the form of distance relocations and new bypasses. The width varies from a two-lane road in rural areas in the north of Queensland and a six-lane road in the suburbs of Brisbane and on the bypasses of other major cities. The highway is now paved over its entire length.

The highest point in the course of the highway is at 192 m, the lowest 2 m.

Important landscapes and places along the Bruce Highway from south to north are: Brisbane, Glass House Mountains, Sunshine Coast, Maryborough, Bundaberg, Rockhampton, Mackay, Airlie Beach, Townsville, Innisfail, Cairns.
