Burgdorf is a municipality in the north of the velvet municipality Baddeckenstedt in the district of Wolfenbüttel, Lower Saxony, Germany.

Geography
The community Burgdorf is located west of the district-free city of Salzgitter, east-northeast of the ridge north of the ridge and Vorholz light mountains ( north-western part of the Salzgitter ridge ). It lies north of Baddeckenstedt ( seat of the velvet municipality administration) and north-east of Holle and south of Soehlde, located in the west adjacent district of Hildesheim.
With 24.06 km ² Burgdorf is the area 's largest member congregation of the Samtgemeinde Baddeckenstedt.

History
For the first time Burgdorf was mentioned in a document in 1243 as Borchtorp.
Between the Treaty of Tilsit in 1807 and the Battle of Leipzig in 1813 belonged to the Electorate of Brunswick- Lüneburg in the Kingdom of Westphalia. Linde Wester belonged at this time to Canton Gebhardshagen.
Incorporations
On March 1, 1974, the municipalities Berel Hohenassel, North Assel and Wester Linde were incorporated.
District Berel
The district was listed Berel end of the 8th century / beginning of the 9th century in Fulda as Perlohen. From 775 Ostfalen was conquered by Charlemagne in 815 and the diocese of Hildesheim was founded, the period 775-815 out of the question. The local population had been set to 808 as the basis for a 1200 - year celebration from 24 to 25 May 2008.

Culture and sights
One of the oldest houses in the municipality in the district is Linde Wester. Asked The listed building of 1661 located in the yard of the Bock family.
Museum
The home office is on the first floor of the old school building and shows pictures, documents and equipment from agriculture and the crafts of the region.

The Federal Highway 39 to the driveway in Wester Linde is located in the southern municipality.
Religions
In Burgdorf is a historic Protestant church, now belonging to the parish Burgdorf- Assel.
After the war, Catholic services were held in the castle, but mainly in the Protestant church. From 1981 to 2007 was located in the former school, the Catholic Chapel of St. Mary Rosary. The nearest Catholic church with regular services is now 5 km from Salzgitter- Fred Berg.
