Calayan (Cagayan)
Calayan is a town in the Philippine province of Cagayan. The municipality is located in the far north of the province. In 2010, the 533 km ² area counted 16,200 residents, resulting in a population density of 30 inhabitants per km ². The municipality consists of the majority of the Babuyan Islands, among which are also the namesake island Calayan (196 km ²) and the islands of Babuyan Claro (100 km ²), Camiguin (166 km ²) and Dalupiri (50 km ²). Smaller islands are Pamoctan ( 0.3 km ²) and Pinon (0.04 sq km ) west of Camiguin, Panuitan ( 2.3 km ²) north of Cagayan, Irao south of Dalupiri, Didicas ( 0.7 km ² ), and the Guinapao Rocks ( Dilayag ) (<0.3 km ²). Of the Babuyan Islands only Fuga does not belong with their side islands barite and Mabag to the municipality Calayan, but the city Aparri. The 715-meter- high volcano of Camiguin de Babuyanes located south of the community.
