Caldecott Medal

The Caldecott Medal is an American literary prize, which is awarded by the Association for Library Service to Children, a subgroup of the American Library Association, to the illustrator of the best children's picture book of the year since 1938. The award is to Randolph J. Caldecott, an illustrator of the 19th century, named.

In addition to the Newbery Medal, the Caldecott Medal is considered the finest in children's literature in the United States.

There are awarded every year a grand prize ( Caldecott Medal ) and several honorary awards ( Caldecott Honor ).
