Cape Canaveral Air Force Station Space Launch Complex 37

Cape Canaveral AFS Launch Complex 37 (LC -37 ) is an active launch complex of the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Merritt Iceland, Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA. Originally built for launches of the Saturn 1 and Saturn 1B rockets as part of the Apollo program, the complex is now used by the United Launch Alliance to launch the Delta IV rocket.

History

The construction of the launch complex began in June 1959. He was together with the Launch Complex 34 as part of the Apollo program to the start of the Saturn I and Saturn 1B built.

Initially, two pads constructed (37A and 37B ), of which only pad B was used.

After the end of the Saturn flights, the site was shut down and the plant mothballed in the early 1970s. Only at the beginning of the 21st century, the complex was reactivated and Pad B is now used by the U.S. Air Force and United Launch Alliance to launch the Delta IV launch vehicle, mainly to convey heavy military satellite into space.
