The Carnival Magic (German spell ) is a cruise ship in the Dream class, operated by the cruise line Carnival Cruise Lines. The 23 new construction project of the shipping company is the sister ship to the Carnival Dream and was found to be 100th ship of Carnival Corporation & plc into service on 1 May 2011.
History
Construction and commissioning
On 18 December 2006 made Carnival Cruise Lines use the option to order another cruise ship in the Dream class. The keel laying of the Carnival Magic ( hull number 6167 ) was performed on 12 January 2010 at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone. The first Bausektion with a mass of about 630 tons, was 18 m long and 21 m wide. The launch of the " Münzzeremonie ", in which a silver dollar welded on the top deck was, took place on August 27, 2010.
On 27 September 2010 fell one of two tugs pulled Light with the six diesel engines that were intended for the Carnival Magic, in Trieste in Italy. The tug had cut the ropes, as the tow caught in a storm. Only one of the machines crashed into the sea shortly afterwards the Light sank to a depth of about 20 meters. The damage was estimated at about 18 million euros and is supported by the engine manufacturer Wärtsilä, on whose behalf the towing association between the Fincantieri Monfalcone yards and Marghera in northern Italy was underway. The schedule for delivery of the Carnival Magic will can still be observed.
Beginning of October 2010 was the flooding of the building dock and the ship was transferred to completion in a floating dock. After completion of sea trials in the spring of 2011, the Carnival Magic was delivered April 27, 2011 to the owner. After the naming ceremony on 1 May 2011 ( godmother: Lindsey Wilkerson ) the ship of Venice ran out on its maiden voyage.
Use
After the commissioning of the Carnival Magic has first conducted cruises in the Mediterranean. In this case, the ship was stationed in Barcelona. Since November 2011 she is traveling all year round Western Caribbean from Galveston (Texas ). The Mediterranean cruises 2012 has the identical Carnival Breeze transferred, 2013 these trips the Carnival Sunshine assume that as Carnival Destiny is currently on the road.
Machinery and drive
The machinery of the Carnival Magic is almost identical to the investment of the Carnival Dream. Six driven by a twelve-cylinder diesel engines, the Wärtsilä 46 series alternators supply the ship with electricity. The drive system is conventionally carried out with electric propeller motors, shafting, 6-blade fixed pitch propellers and active rowing.
Cabins and onboard facilities
For the Carnival Magic many facilities were taken at car assembly and deck equipment, which have already proven themselves on the " Carnival Dream ". These include the water park ( " Waterworks " ), the shopping and entertainment area "Ocean Plaza", the outdoor promenade with four projecting beyond the deck hot tubs as well as the extensive spa and wellness area. Compared to the sister ship " Carnival Dream " is the number of passenger cabins will be extended to 1845. For the crew are ready 746 cabins. Thus, the ship will accommodate over 6,000 people. The Carnival Magic is the first ship in the fleet with a high ropes course ( " SkyCourse " ) and a pub ( "The Red Frog" ) provided, in which a specially brewed beer for this purpose ( " ThirstyFrog Red" ) is to be served. The establishment of an Italian trattoria refers to the Italian officers on board the ships.
