The Carnival Spirit (German spirit, soul, courage ) is the lead ship of the Spirit - class, a series of six Panamax cruise ships, which was developed for the American tourism company Carnival Corporation & plc. It was built at the shipyard Kvaerner Masa Yards AB in Helsinki.
Construction and commissioning
On 24 February 1998, the company Carnival Cruise Lines and shipyard Kvaerner Masa Yards AB signed an agreement for the construction of the Carnival Spirit. The keel of the hull number 499 was made on 16 November 1999 at the shipyard in Helsinki. On 7 July 2000 the ship floated on the first time and was then moved to the fitting-out and completed. On 11 April 2001, the Carnival Spirit could be handed over to the shipping company, and left the next day in Helsinki to Miami, where she arrived on 24 April. Machinery and drive
