Caroline Kilel

Caroline Cheptanui Kilel (born 21 March 1981) is a Kenyan long-distance runner.

In 2003 she was at the World Cross Country Championships and second in the Eighth Venice Marathon. The following year, she finished second at the Prague Marathon, presented at the Grand Prix of Prague over 5 km with 15:25 min a course record and won the Palermo Marathon. In 2005, she finished seventh at the Hamburg Marathon and won the Nairobi Marathon, 2006, she was third in Prague and second in the Dublin Marathon and 2007 Seventh at Seoul International Marathon.

After a competition break of eighteen months, she was in the fall of 2008 at the Toronto Waterfront Marathon Fourth and won the Taipei International Marathon. In 2009 she was third in the 25 km from Berlin, won the Zwitserloot Dak Run and came at the World Half Marathon Championships in Birmingham to fourth place. As winner of the Ljubljana Marathon they improved the course record by more than seven minutes, and her personal best by nearly five minutes.

In 2010 she was third at the Seoul International Marathon, repeated her victory at Dak Zwitserloot Run and improved at the Frankfurt Marathon course record by almost two minutes. The following year, she won the Boston Marathon, was third at the Portugal Half Marathon and sixth at the New York City Marathon. In 2012 she was second in the half marathon competition of the Houston Marathon, Sixth at RAK Half Marathon and won the Taipei International Marathon.

2013 she triumphed for the second time at the Frankfurt Marathon.

Caroline Cheptanui Kilel is 1,72 m tall and weighs 54 kg. She is married to her fellow runners Vincent Kipkemboi Cheruiyot.
