Carroll Clark

Carroll Clark ( born February 6, 1894 in Mountain View, Santa Clara County, California, † May 17, 1968 in Glendale, California ) is an American art director and production designer, the seven- time Best in the category Design for the Oscar nominee was and was once called the Oscar of Science and development ( scientific and Engineering Award).

Life

Carroll Clark started in the mid 1920s his work as art director and production designer in the film industry and was involved after The Magic Garden (1927 ) on the equipment of more than 220 films.

At the Academy Awards in 1935, he was with Van Nest Polglase for dancing with me! (1934 ) for the first time nominated for the Academy Award for Best Production Design. More nominations followed in 1936 with Van Nest Polglase I dance for me in your heart into it (1935 ) and in 1938 for a damsel in distress (A Damsel in Distress, 1937).

At the Academy Awards in 1943, he shared with Thomas F. Thompson, of Studio Art and Miniature Department of RKO Pictures the so-called Oscar of Science and Development ( Scientific and Engineering Award) "for the development and construction of a mobile machine for the production of clouds and horizons ".

Other Oscar nominations for Best Production Design followed in 1944 with Albert S. D' Agostino, Darrell Silvera and Harley Miller for the black and white film Flight for Freedom ( 1943), 1945 Albert S. D'Agostino, Darrell Silvera and Claude E. Carpenter for the black and white film Step Lively (1944 ), 1962 Emile Kuri and Hal Gausman for the black and white film the Flying Pauker ( the Absent - Minded Professor, 1961) and most recently at the Oscar ceremony in 1965 with William H. Tuntke, Emile Kuri and Hal Gausman for color film Mary Poppins (1964).

Clark also served at the facilities of the films Flying Down to Rio (1933 ), Notorious (1946) and The Parent Trap announce (1961 ) with. Throughout his career, he worked with film directors such as Mark Sandrich, George Stevens, Lothar Mendes, Tim Whelan, Robert Stevenson, Alfred Hitchcock, David Swift and Thornton Freeland.
