Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture
The Autonomous County of Changji Hui people (Chinese昌吉 回族 自治州) lies in the central northern part of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the People's Republic of China. Its capital is Changji (昌吉 市). The Autonomous District has an area of 73,660.41 km ² and approximately 1.57 million inhabitants ( end of 2004).
Administrative Divisions
At county level, Changji is composed of two independent cities, four counties and one autonomous district together. These are:
- Changji City (昌吉 市Changji Shì ), 7981.13 km ², 390,000 inhabitants, the district capital;
- Fukang City (阜康 市Fukang Shì ), 8844.85 km ², 160,000 inhabitants;
- Circle Hutubi (呼图壁 县Hutubi Xiàn ), 9518.45 km ², population 210,000, capital: greater community Hutubi (呼图壁 镇);
- Circle Manas (玛纳斯县Mǎnàsī Xiàn ), 9154.48 km ², 170,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Manas (玛纳斯 镇);
- Circle Qitai (奇台县Qitai Xiàn ) 16709.36 km ², 230,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Qitai (奇 台 镇);
- Circle Jimsar (吉木萨尔 县Jímùsà'ěr Xiàn ), 8169.86 km ², 130,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Jimsar (吉木萨尔 镇);
- Kazakh Autonomous County Mori (木垒 哈萨克 自治县Muley Hāsàkè Zizhixian ), 17.7 thousand km ², 90,000 inhabitants, capital: greater community Mori (木垒 镇).
