Chokoloskee is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Collier County in the U.S. state of Florida with 359 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Geography

Chokoloskee is an island that belongs to the Ten Thousand Islands. It is connected to the County Road 29 to the Tamiami Trail ( U.S. 41, SR 90) and about 60 km from Naples is removed.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 359 inhabitants distributed in 255 households. The population density was 512.9 inh. / Km ². 96.1 % of the population were white. 3.6% were members of other ethnic groups and 0.3 % of various ethnicities. 5.6% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 42.3 % of all households lived in 22.1 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 68.7 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.20 persons and the average family size is 2.63 people.

19.2% of the population were younger than 20 years, 16.9% were 20-39 years old, 26.5% were 40-59 years old and 47.3 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 53 years. 54.3 % of the population were male and 45.7 % female.

The average annual income was $ 36.875, while 66.0 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100 % of the population.
