Close Your Eyes is a Melodic-Hardcore-/Post-Hardcore-Band founded in 2005 from Abilene, Texas, which currently stands at U.S. record label Victory Records.

History

Start-up phase

Close Your Eyes was founded in Abilene, Texas in 2005 by Shayne Reymond (vocals), Ben Clinard ( electric bass), Brett Callaway (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Chris Coltman (drums). The musicians at that time were students at the private Baptist Hardin - Simmons University.

The first years of the band consisted mainly to find a long-lasting occupation. So Clinard left the band after only one year. He was replaced by Sonny Vega (bass, background vocals). In addition, with Andrew Rodriguez (rhythm guitar) joined a fifth musician to the band. Coltman left the group in 2007 and was replaced by David Fidler on drums.

First publications

2006, the group released a demo with three pieces. A first EP was released in 2008 and was named after the band. 2009 the band Victory Records was signed. The year 2010 began for the band with a short concert tour with Miss May I, Abandon All Ships and Us, From Outside, which led through several states of the USA and also included a concert in Canada. The label debut, which bears the name of We Will Overcome, was released on 26 February 2010 worldwide. The album received mostly positive reviews and sold within the first year, according to Nielsen SoundScan, more than 12,000 times. That same year, drummer David Fidler left the band after three years. Tim Friesen was hired as the new drummer. In addition, the group began still work on the second album, which should see the light in 2011 in the world.

Between 2 November 2010 and 28 November 2010, the Group together with The Word Alive and Underoath opening for A Day to Remember on their U.S. concert tour. In October, the band toured with As Blood Runs Black, For the Fallen Dreams and Atilla as the opening act for Stick to Your Guns on their The Faith in the Untaimed tour. In December, the group played with Oh, Sleeper, Lower Than Atlantis and Stray from the Path for Norma Jean on their U.S. tour.

In April 2011 Close Your Eyes toured with Terror, Trapped Under Ice, Your Demise and again with Stick to Your Guns. This concert tour again led by the United States. On 24 October 2011, the album was released that the name Empty Hands and Heavy Hearts bears, worldwide. Producer was Cameron Webb, who has worked with Silverstein and Alkaline Trio. It debuted at # 137 in the official U.S. charts. 2011 the group played on the Scream the Prayer Tour, among other things, I, the Breather, Texas in July, The Great Commission and The Chariot, as well as on the Cornerstone Festival.

Andrew Rodriguez left in 2011 the band briefly, but returned again in 2012 as an active musician back. With lead vocalist Shane Raymond in March 2012 left another founding member of the band, so the group had to cancel a concert tour with Comeback Kid. He was briefly replaced by Mikey Sawyer. Sawyer did no more than an interim solution dar. Since mid-2012 's Sam Ryder Robinson singer of the band. On June 2, 2012 Close Your Eyes played a concert with Less Than Jake, A Wilhelm Scream and We Came as Romans in the Colombian capital Bogota. In addition, the group played with Protest the Hero in Argentina, Chile and Brazil.

Third album

In November 2012 it was announced that Close Your Eyes work on her third studio album. It was announced that the album will appear on 29 October 2013. The title of the album is Line in the Sand. In September 2013, the group toured through Europe for the first time. The performances took place in Germany, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Slovenia. Meanwhile, Jordan Hatfield drummer for the band after Friesen left this in 2011.

Line in the Sand was released on October 29, 2013 worldwide. Just days before the release of the album was on several music websites, including Alternative Press, offered online as a stream. The end of October, the group toured with Gideon and Sworn In by Texas, Arizona, Nevada and California. In November appearances followed, in Illinois, Montana, Indiana, Louisiana, Georgia, Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama and Texas.
