Cornelis Pijnacker Hordijk

Cornelis Pijnacker Hordijk ( born April 13, 1847 in Drumpt; † September 3, 1908 in Haarlem ) was a Dutch jurist and statesman.

Life

Pijnacker Hordijk studied in 1864 at the University of Utrecht. A few years later he was the rector of the Senate Veteranorum, at the top of the Student Corps and received his PhD in 1873 a doctorate in law. In 1874 he became professor of legal history at the Athenaeum Illustre of Amsterdam and in 1881 at the University of Utrecht. From 1882 to 1883 he was Minister of the Interior in the liberal Cabinet Van Lynden van sand castle. From 1885 to 1888 he served as Governor of Drenthe and curator of the University of Groningen. From 1888 to 1893 he was Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies, then still operated as a curator in Delft and from 1902 as curator of the University of Leiden.
