Daniel Rose (politician)

Daniel Rose ( born July 31, 1772 in Connecticut; † October 25, 1833 ) was an American politician and 1822 Acting Governor of the State of Maine.

Career

Daniel Rose attended Yale University, where he graduated in 1871. He studied medicine and opened a practice in Boothbay. During the British - American War he held the rank of captain in the Army Corps of Engineers. After the war, he decided to pursue a political career. He was elected in 1820 in the Senate of Maine, a post he held for four years. During this time he worked 1822-1824 as President of the Senate. On January 2, 1822 Governor Benjamin Ames came from his office and Rose, who was already President of the Senate, then took over his official duties. He held this office until January 5, 1822 and then took his Senate seat again. After his time in the Senate he became the first warden of the Maine State Prison and held this office until his resignation 1828th He was 1828-1831 in Maine as a real estate broker active.
