Daniel Van Buyten ( born February 7, 1978 in Chimay ) is a Belgian footballer. The center-back is since 2006 with FC Bayern Munich under contract.

Club career

Van Buyten is the son of a Belgian who was a professional catcher, and a German mother. He started playing football in youth by JS Froidchapelle. During a one-year stay with his grandmother in Bad Salzdetfurth he played at the JSG Lammetal (youth gaming community SV Eintracht Bad Salzdetfurth, VFB soil Castle and SV Wehrstedt 65). He then returns to JS Froidchapelle and then played for Olympic Charleroi. His next two stations should be Auvelais UBS and FC Somzée. In all the clubs he played as a striker.

1997 wrote Daniel Van Buyten at Sporting Charleroi his first contract in professional football. Although he was provided for the attack, but then played as a defender. During the 2:3 defeat on 27 November 2011 ( 14. Matchday) at 1 FSV Mainz 05 scored van Buyten for the first time in his career, scored two goals in a top-flight.

On April 30, 2012, he extended his end of the season expiring contract by one year to 30 June 2013, in June 2013 again for another year. He won the Champions League with Bayern in the 2012/13 season. He was after Eric Gerets (PSV Eindhoven, 1988) only the second Belgian, who could win the most coveted trophy in European football.

Career in the national team

On 28 February 2001 Daniel Van Buyten made his debut for the national team of Belgium at 10:1 win against San Marino and stood in the starting line. After his second game on March 24, 2001 World Cup qualifying match against Scotland, in which he scored a goal, it took several months until his next international match.
