Dovre-Nationalpark

The Dovre National Park (Norwegian Dovre nasjonalpark ) is a Norwegian national park, which is located in the mountains north of Hedmark and Oppland. In addition, it is located between the Dovre Sunndalsfjella National Park and Rondane National Park. The park was founded in 2003 and has an area of 289 km ².

The park belongs to the municipalities Dovre (Oppland ) and Folldal ( Hedmark ). In the south and south-east it borders on the natural reserve Grimsdalen and Rondane. In the north- west by the nature reserve Fokstugu, the E 6 and the Dovre Sunndalsfjella National Park. The two nature reserves form an impressive nature reserve with the 3 national parks. Southeast of the park, in Rondane, there is a manned mountain hut and information that Grimsdalshytta, which is operated by the Norwegian Trekking Association.

Geography, landscape and geology

The largest part of the park is above the tree line. The landscape is dominated by mountains, glaciers and glacier residue as dead ice and Osen. Around the three highest mountains, Fokstuhøe ( 1716 moh. ) Halvfarhø (1689 moh. ) And Falketind ( 1684 moh. ), Have the soil and the vegetation arctic character with traces of permafrost. In the park there are also some of the southernmost Palsasmoore Norway. Flora and Fauna

Due to the fertile soil, the park on one of the richest floras throughout Norway. The Dovre and the neighboring national parks and protected areas are among the last refuges in Europe for wild mountain reindeer. In the park there are also other larger mammals such as wolverines and lynx. The most common birds are Dotterel, lark, golden eagle and gyrfalcon.

Heritage

In the National Park finds of prehistoric reindeer hunting have been made. These include pitfalls and various other fishing tools and weapons.
