Fanano

Fanano is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3010 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Modena. The municipality is situated approximately 49.5 kilometers south-southwest of Modena in the Valle di Ospitale. Fanano directly borders the provinces of Pistoia and Bologna and is part of the Parco dell'Alto Apennines of Modena and part of the Comunità Montana del Frignano on.

History

Fanano is mentioned since the 8th century. Since the 7th century, there is the monastery of St. Columbanus in Fanano.
