Feistritzwerke Knittelfeld with 784 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) is a district located in the Mur Valley Judicial District Jews castle community the Austrian province of Styria. From 1 January 2015 it has joined forces framework of the Styrian municipality structural reform with the town of Sankt Marein Knittelfeld, the new community will be known as " Sankt Marein - Feistritzwerke ".

Neighboring communities

History

It is believed that even before the birth of Christ Celts lived in the municipality, which acted as prospectors. Under Emperor Augustus, the Celtic kingdom of Noricum was part of the Roman Empire and Feistritzwerke participated in the Roman culture. From this time two Roman stones were found in Feistritzwerke which were later walled up in the church in Feistritzwerke. Is Reported that in the early period of Roman Christianity, a church was built, which sank in the Fentscher moss. At the time of the great migrations Slavs populated the place and it came to naming Feistritzwerke or Fiustrica. Later Feistritzwerke was settled by Germans, who brought with them their Christian priests from Salzburg or Bavaria. So it is 1075 already two churches have given in Mareinerboden.

1849/50 the municipality Feistritzwerke was built.

Economy

Feistritzwerke is relatively unimportant to the economy of the area, however there are some self- marketers (especially in agriculture ) and a few industries ( steel and aluminum construction Schweiger, car dealership Vogl & Schubert, car dealership Grasser, warehouse ... ). In addition, the TEERAG -ASDAG AG operates an asphalt mixing plant in Feistritzwerke.

Education

In Feistritzwerke there is a primary school and a kindergarten. The elementary school was opened on 4 November 1899 after renovation work in the 1970s and 1990s she got her present appearance. Since 1975 there is also a kindergarten in Feistritzwerke, which was first housed on the first floor of the former municipal office, located in the new town hall since 1986.

Policy

Mayor in Feistritzwerke is currently Peter Ring, who has been in office since the sudden death of former mayor and primary school director Heinz smith 1998. In the local elections of 2005, the SPÖ Feistritzwerke with 67,79 % achieved a profit of 14.58 % and was thus able to win a mandate and achieve a total of 6 seats. The ÖVP was with 32.21 % 3 mandates and lost 8.66% of the vote. After the municipal elections of March 21, 2010 changed the distribution of seats is nothing, the SPÖ won 22 votes added ( but lost 0.21 %), the ÖVP 12 votes.

The town hall was built in the years 1984 to 1986 under then- Mayor Heinz blacksmith. The building housed are also a multi-purpose hall for events and a kindergarten.

The award of the municipality coat of arms was made with effect from 1 June 1993. Blazon (Coat of Arms description): " In a red shield with a silver bar with three black notches at the bottom, also erupted three black disks, in each of which a diamond blade gothic form is growing. "

Partner community

Feistritz entertains together with Sankt Lorenzen bei Knittelfeld a community partnership with the Italian town of Grado. Every year there are trips there and also representatives from Grado regularly visit the two communities. Feistritzwerke and St. Lorenzen also bring every year a Christmas tree to Grado, who during the Christmas season, the Basilica Saint Eufemia adorns there. Although the partnership deed was officially signed until 29 November 2003 to the contact and friendship between the communities dates back to 1989.

Events

Notable events in Feistritzwerke are mainly the village festival and " Youth Music ", where mostly children and young people from Feistritzwerke and surrounding communities occur.

Relatively unique in Austria is the Demolition rally, which is organized by the "Motorsport Club Dietrich " every year since 2001. After the organizers after the event in July 2007, massive environmental damage was accused, the fate of the rally was uncertain. After the change of the management is the Demolition rally on July 12, 2008, to take place again. The organizers stressed here, they would control all of the requirements strictly. There is a request for the next four years has already been submitted.
