Geography

Geographically the western municipality located in the expiring shallow Munich gravel plain, which extends up to the village Forstern, in the east, the municipality is on the other hand, in a scenic attractive, wooded and undulating hills. Forstern is located about 32 km east of Munich, 15 km south of the district town of Erding, 20 km southwest of Villages and 13 km north of Ebersberg. It is just 28 km from Munich Airport.

The place name Forestarin which has changed over time on some variants such as Vorstarn, Vorstern, Vorstärn the present Forstern, first appeared in 1065 on in Ebersberg Cartular.

Forstern belonged to Rentamt Munich and the Court of Swabia of the Electorate of Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

Since then, the community Forstern includes the following districts: Forstern, Amplötz, Bocköd, fire, hard Brunn, hub, Charles Village, Kipfing, Kreiling, Neuharting, Oberstaudham, Preissdorf, Pullach, Siggenberg, Straßham, Tading, Unterstaudham, Wetting.

The parish includes also Forstern still Reithofen and Harthofen; the village belongs to the district of price parish Hohenlinden.

The coat of arms of the municipality Forstern was established on May 18, 1953: " In gold, a green pile, straddling a rooted green fir, the pile covered with a growing golden Abtstab, which is considered in the foot with a silver gear. "
