The Frölunda HC ( also Frölunda Indians, Västra Frölunda HC earlier ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey club based in Gothenburg.

History

The club is named after a district of Gothenburg and was until 1984 a section of the sports club Västra Frölunda IF. This club was founded in 1930 and since about 1944 belonged to the Hockey program. 1965 the team was able to win for the first time the Swedish championship. Two more championships followed in recent years, namely 2003 and 2005. Previously Frölunda HC in 1984 was relegated from Elitserien, but could celebrate the 1990 revival. The home games wearing the club predominantly in the multi-purpose hall Scandinavium.

In spring 2006, the association succeeded in the semifinals of the Swedish championship against Linköpings HC an unimaginable comeback. After you have lagged in the best of seven series with 1:3 games, the team was able to convert the ratio to a 4:3 and still reach the final. There Frölunda lost then in the sixth game of the best- of-seven series 5-3 against Färjestad BK after they already were behind 2-3 in the best- of-seven series, and was runner-up.
